What happened to Chris Cunningham?

No doubt about it: based on the brilliant music videos he did in the nineties Chris Cunningham deserves a warm place on the Olympus of Promo Directors. His work for artists like Bjork and Aphex Twin were truly masterpieces of amazing originality and we don’t mind watching them over and over again. But since the new millennium his name was only sparsely seen on the payroll of the mayor labels.

Word has it that he was working on a feature film. Word has it that this project never really kick-started. Yes, we know he directed a promo for The Horrors and yes, we also saw his nerve-wracking short film Rubber Johnny back in 2005, but what has he been up to these past years? Did he retire? If somebody knows somebody who knows something about the enigmatic Cunningham, please let us know.
