Pushing the boundaries at IDFA Doclab

Tomorrow is the kick off of one of the world’s leading documentary film festivals: the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (short: IDFA). During this ten day festival more than 300 documentaries from all over the world will be shown in cinemas throughout Amsterdam. A wide variety of themes are presented; from personal portraits, such as Horse-Being from Jérôme Clément-Wilz – a film about a woman who identifies as a pony; or films with bigger, universal themes, such as Tell Spring Not to Come This Year by Saeed Taji Farouky & Michael McEvoy.

A new form of documentary that IDFA has been focusing on can be experienced at the Doclab: Seamless Reality expo. Here you can see the latest projects that are pushing the boundaries of documentary filmmaking, from virtual reality documentaries to documentary film installations and all kinds of interactive online documentaries. More than 25 installations that explore the boundaries between the real and the virtual world. This is a must-see exhibition for in between the festival’s traditional documentaries.

smallcatOur own Bistro in Vitro an interactive documentary that explores the future of meat consumption (a collaboration with the Next Nature Network) is part of the Seamless Reality expo.
